SRINAGAR: In the first of its kind initiative in Leh, State’s First Professional Football Academy, State Football Academy of J&K State Sports Council has launched its District Unit in Leh today at NDS Ground Leh.
Around 300 local players from Ladakh Region participated in the open selection trials which were conducted in fair and transparent manner, out of which 60 players have been selected in the under the age groups of U-13 & U-15. These players will be groomed by professional panel of Coaches of State Football Academy throughout the year, which is being spearheaded by State’s Star Player Mr. Mehraj Ud Din Wadoo.
The function was attended by Dr. Sonam Dawa Lonpo, Chairman LAHDC Leh, who was chief guest of the occasion. Among other guests, Ven. Lobzang Nantak Councellor Upper Leh, Mr. P Wangdan Shunu, Counselor Lower Leh, Mr. Daskyong Namgyal, Principal Degree College Leh & Mr. Gyal P Wangyal, Member JK State Sports Council & various heads of District Associations. Executive Officer J&K State Sports Council and Technical Director of SFA briefed the guests about the aim and objective of this project.
Chief Guest on the occasion Dr. Sonam Dawa thanked J&K State Sports Council for providing such type of platforms and opportunities to the local players of Ladakh.
Member Sports Council Mr. Gyal in his speech also thanked Secretary Sports Council for taking keen interest in glorifying the sport of Ladakh.
