J&K Youth Service and Sports Minister Imran Reza Ansari and Secretary Sports Council, Waheed ur Rehman Para met Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel to discuss steps to empower youth & boost sports in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
In the meeting, the Union Minister agreed on and gave a go ahead on various points including engaging the coaches, who recently completed special Certificate course at National Institute of Sports.
The Issues which were raised by Hon’ble Sports Minister Vijay Goyal are:
i) Establishment of 13 SAI centres in 13 districts of J&K State. A team deputed by SAI has conducted feasibility of the proposed SAI centres. There has been no further action in the matter from the concerned.
ii) Continuation of short term Certificate courses in various disciplines under special package for youth of J&K at NIS Patiala.
iii) Engagement/Hiring of coaches trained under Special Certificate training course at NS, NIS under Prime Minister’s special Package Program
iiii) Constituting of village / block level sports clubs / teams. This proposal stands forwarded to Secretary Sports Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Govt. of India on 02-02-2017. The financial implications have been worked out at Rs 4172.80 lakhs (Recurring 1902.80 lakhs Non-recurring 2270.00 lakhs)
v) Establishment of Sub-Regional SAI Centre in State for which land shall be provided by the state. Action awaited from SAI.
vi) Establishment of NIS Patiala Level institution at Srinagar/Jammu for conduct of coaching courses for which law can be more available with state Govt.
vii) Continuation of Khelo India programme with J&K State Sports department
viii) Construction / up-gradation of sports infrastructure in J&K State under Khelo India Infrastructural development scheme.
