I-League Champions among participating teams
Srinagar: J&K is going to host Pre-I league J&K Invitation football cup in which some of the top clubs of the country are set to participate.
In this regard, a meeting under the chairmanship of Secretary State Sports Council Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary was held on Friday, during which the issue of hosting Pre-I League J&K Invitation Football Cup was discussed.
The chairman was appraised about various arrangements being made, including constitution of various sub-committees etc., for smooth conduct of the tournament.
Pre-I League J&K Invitation Cup, a knockout tournament in which some of the country’s top clubs including I-League champion Minerva FC, Belgaluru FC, Mohammadan Sporting FC, Hindustan FC will be participating, would be organised jointly by the J&K State Sports Council and J&K Football Association.
The tournament is all set to start from October 16 at synthetic turf TRC ground and would feature eight teams. Besides four outside clubs, local giants including I-league debutant Real Kashmir FC, J&K Bank FC, Lone Star FC and State Football Academy FC would also participate in the competition.
In addition to trophies, the winning team will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 3.00 lakhs while as the runner-up will receive a cash prize of Rs. 1.00 lakh.
