Imran Ansari showed tremendous interest in strengthening the sports culture of state: NIS trained Professionals

SRINAGAR: In a major development and first of its kind, Sports Council appointed NIS trained professionals today.

Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council’s endeavour to rope in professionals in the setup got a big boost with appointment of NIS trained Coaches from various disciplines in the council.

The appointment letters were handed over to the new recruits on Friday at Sports Council’s Srinagar office.

“Yesterday we were called to take the appointment letters, and today by the grace of Almighty and sincere efforts of our Chief Minister and Sports Minister, we received the orders and we are very much desperate to be part of the Council,” said a group of NIS trained professionals at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar.

All of the appointees are National Institute of Sports trained. The appointments were approved by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Sports Minister Imran Reza Ansari.

“We are thankful to our Chief Minster Mehbooba Mufti who made this historical decision by appointing us,” said Ghulam Mursaleen, newly recruited Basketball coach.

An official of the Sports Council said that the latest appointments are part of Council’s bid to professionalize the department completely.

“I am thankful to Chief Minister and Sports Minister for showing tremendous interest in strengthening the sports culture of the state. The appointment of NIS trained professionals is a step in that direction. We hope young players keen to take sports as career or for passion will learn from these trained professionals,” he said.

The coaches were trained in three different batches with most of them belonging to cricket, football, handball, basketball, judo besides other sports. Sports fitness trainers have also been roped in to inculcate culture of fitness among the players.
