Star footballer of the state has joined J&K State Sports Council (JKSSC).
Ishfaq Ahmad who recently signed contract with Indian Super League side Jamshedpur FC owned by Tata group, was officially part of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS). He will be on deputation and he will be given the charge of developing grassroot level football across State.

Ishfaq is known footballer of State who has represented India at International level. He has played for some of the top football clubs of Country over the years like East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, Mohammedan Sporting, Dempo Goa and many others. In ISL he was part of Sachin Tendulkar owned Kerala Blasters before signing up as assistant coach for Jamshedpur FC last month.
“In Sports Council I will get chance to look after the grass root level development of football across JK. I will be looking and taking care of grass root level football centers. I will train and monitor our new generation of footballers,” Ishfaq said.
About his involvement in ISL, he said, “I parted ways with Sachin Tendulkar owned Kerala Blasters on good note. I wanted to foray into coaching role and they understood it perfectly. I recently completed my AFC B-License coaching course and Jamshedpur side gives me perfect opportunity to explore my coaching instincts”.
