Srinagar, 25th May: Minister for Youth Service & Sports, Imran Raza Ansari,Thursday, launched the ‘State Football Academy’ at Astro Turf, TRC. The Minister for Health, Bali Bhagat and Secretary Sports Council, Waheed-Ur-Rehman Parra, were also present on the occasion.
The Academy, an initiative of J&K State Sports Council, had recently conducted its trial for the U-13, U-15, U-18 age groups under the ace footballer of the country, Mehrajuddin Wadoo and other licensed coaches in the council.
Former football stars of the state, Mohd Yousuf Dar, Abdul Majid Kukroo, Mohd Shafi Nari along with the former India team captain, Rendy Singh, were honoured at the launching ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, the ministers extended full support to the academy and urged the selected players to work hard and make this initiative a grand success.
