60 JK aspiring coaches to get coaching course at NIS Patiala

Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council (JKSSC) is all set to send its 1st batch of youngsters for the certificate course in sports coaching at National Institute of Sports (NIS) Patiala in order to groom sports talent among the youth.

The batch comprising of almost 60 youngsters, who will be given training in various disciplines including athletics, boxing, basketball, cricket, football, gymnastics, hockey, handball, health and fitness, judo, swimming, volleyball, wushu, weight lifting and others.

“In order to create a system where the talent could be scouted and shortlisted in an organized manner, it is important to have feedback, suggestions from every side that will allow the process to churn and select the best talent, besides engagement of youth and keep the vested interests at bay”, said Secretary J&K State Sports Council.

He further added that, “JKSSC promotes sports activities in the State among the students and non- student youth. Our main aim is to create and maintain social inclusion and engagement of youth, which will lead to substantial development of social capital. We are trying our best to make impact in the areas of physical health, cognitive and academic development, mental strengthening, and positive channelization of Youth energy and making substantial contribution towards the development of society”.

Meanwhile, various Sports associations of the state Jammu and Kashmir have appreciated the enthusiasm shown by the JKSSC towards the initiative of providing space for youth for certificate course in Sports. “Our youth have enough talent. They only need a proper direction and platform to move ahead in their life and today we feel that the Sports in Kashmir is taking a new curve and change is visible on ground,” said Mudasir Zargar, senior football Coach.

He further added that the youth is our endeavor to uphold and create ample opportunities for Kashmir’s youth. We want to create new avenues and opportunities for youth. And we are desperate to have sports stadiums in every place, where youth are eager for sports and are shunning the drug addictions.
