A basketball championship tournament concluded at Indoor Sports Stadium Srinagar on Thursday. The tournament started from 1st November and today boys under 14 Kashmir Knights defeated Lackers with a score of 13:6.
Similarly, in boys senior, Alley Oops defeated Jayhawks with a score of 16: 8.
In the girl’s category, Black Hawks defeated Grey Hawks with a score of 21: 8.
The tournament was held by Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council.
On this occasion, Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar who was Chief Guest on the occasion appreciated the efforts of Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council and said that such tournaments should be held in future also.
Secretary Sports Council, Waheed ur Rehman Para said that they are fully committed to promote sports culture and integrating it with health and education.
He also said that such trainings would “channelize the youth energy for constructive purposes”. “The doors of Sports Council will always remain open for the aspiring youth who want to join Sports,” he added.
While distributing prizes among the players, Akhtar said, “the youth is our endeavour to uphold and create ample opportunities for Kashmir’s youth. The government is desperate to work with youth, where youth are eager for sports and are shunning the drug addictions.”
