2300 players participated in various blocks of Srinagar, Kupwara, Ganderbal, Budgam: Sports Council
Srinagar, Mar 14: Continuing its efforts to reach at grass root level, Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council continued its activities in different blocks of various districts in Kashmir division today. The districts include Narbal block of district Budgam, Safapora block of Ganderbal, Shalimar of Srinagar and in various blocks of district Kupwara.
The players, athletes, sportspersons participated in various Sports disciplines including athletics, Kho Kho, Kabbadi, Volleyball, Wushu, athletics and others. These activities began at block level under Rural Sports Competition in every block of both the divisions of the state Jammu and Kashmir.
Concerned district Sports in charges, officials informed that more than 2300 players participated in various sports disciplines in various blocks including Narbal block of district Budgam, Safapora block of Ganderbal, Shalimar of Srinagar and in various blocks of district Kupwara.
The sports disciplines in which competitions are going on in include athletics, Kho Kho, Kabbadi, Volleyball, Wushu, athletics and others.
Talent identification is being done in the process for grooming budding sportspersons to achieve excellence at National and international levels.
Meanwhile, Divisional Sports Officer, Nuzhat Ara maintained close coordination with the entire concerned district heads for successful Khelo India competitions that are being conducted not only to promote sports at grassroots level but also to help revive the sports culture in the state.
The main aim of the competition is to improve the pool of sportspersons at the grassroots level.
“To identify and hone talent in rural Jammu and Kashmir, various competitions are going on at Block levels,” informed Secretary Sports Council, adding that Government is committed to promote sports activities and develop sports infrastructure in every nook and corner of the State.
