Race was flagged off by Secretary Sports Council, DC Budgam, SSP Budgam
The District Budgam Sports Council organized Open Cycling Championship in Budgam which was flagged off today. It was an open championship and hundreds of cyclists participated in the event.
“As many as 200 cyclists participated in the event that was organized by district sports council Budgam in order to revive the games in winter period here in Kashmir,” said one of the officials of the Budgam Sports Council.
Secretary Sports Council while talking to reporter said, “The main aim of Cycling Championship was to showcase cycling as a competitive sport and promote all round development of the youth through sports.”
A total of 200 enthusiastic and energetic professional and amateur cyclists from Budgam and adjacent areas participated in the Championship, which was witnessed by a large number of spectators, including senior citizens, parents and civil dignitaries, who cheered and encouraged the participants throughout the route.
The race was flagged off at Budgam by Secretary Sports Council, Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Senior Superintendent of Police Budgam and member sports council Rifat Abdullah. The race was organised by Sports Council Budgam.
On completion of the race, prize distribution ceremony was held where the Secretary Sports Council, DC Budgam, SSP Budgam and Member sports Council awarded mementos to the winners.
After the prize distribution, Secretary Sports Council interacted and encouraged the participants and spectators with motivational words. He also congratulated all participants for their keen interest and initiative in making the event a grand success.
