JAMMU, FEBRUARY 10: The Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council (JKSSC) today appointed ace footballer, Mehraj-ud-Din Wadoo, prominent cricketer Abid Nabi and noted Gymnast Mittali Dogra as Junior Coaches in recognition of their laudable contribution in sports arena.
The appointment of footballer Wadoo, cricketer Abid and gymnast Mittali as Coaches for respective sports was made with the approval of the Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti, who is the President of the State Sports Council.
Mehraj-ud-Din Wadoo is a famous footballer from J&K who is a part of the national football squad and also plays for Sporting Club Goa.
Hailing from Srinagar, Wadoo started his football career as a striker with Iqbal Sports Club Srinagar and then moved on to play for J&K Police. After joining professional football league, Wadoo played for HAL, ITI, Sporting Goa, Mohun Bagan and East Bengal.
Given his talent, Wadoo was picked up for the national football squad where he scored the winning goal against Bangladesh in the SAFF Cup finals at Karachi in December 2005. He was also a member of the Indian squad that won Nehru Cup in 2007, AFC Challenge Cup in 2008 and the Nehru Cup in 2009.
Abid Nabi is a young cricketer from J&K who has played 30 first class test matches and 30 one day matches, besides 25 T-20 matches in Ranji Trophy. Abid set the record of scoring fastest 100 in Ranji Trophy in 2010. He is an all-rounder, with right arm fast bowler and right handed batsman.
Hailing from Sonawar, Srinagar Abid has also played 15 matches in Indian cricket league 2006-2007, as part of Delhi Giants.
He played two times in the Dileep Trophy and Deodhar Trophy North Zone.
Mittali Dogra is an individual rhythmic gymnast. She has represented India in international gymnastic competitions. She competed at world championships, including 2009 World Rhythmic Gymnastics championship.
Mittali made J&K proud by creating history to be the first player and coach who represented India in the prestigious Commonwealth Games. Moreover, Mittali was named 2nd best gymnast in 23rd Senior National Gymnastics Championship held at Thane in Maharashtra in 2014.
