- First NIS qualified coach from the state of Jammu and Kashmir, Rachna Jamwal is known for her professionalism in the field of sports especially in ‘fencing’, by which she is recognised and acknowledged not only in the state but across India.
- Ms Rachna Jamwal has given more than 15 years to her career in the Department of J&K State Sports Council.
- An Alumni of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, she Graduated in Arts Stream and was simultaneously was one of the outstanding fencers and as a player, she has participated in many national championships including National Games.
- She was also one of the refined cadets as a part of National Cadet Corps having ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificates in her kitty during her college days.
- Ms Rachna Jamwal has represented the state as Junior Under Officer (JUO) in the Republic Day.
- After pursuing Masters in Education from University of Jammu, Rachna Jamwal decided to pursue career in the field of sports.
- She did one year Diploma in Fencing from reputed National Institute of Sports (NIS), Patiala Punjab and was appointed on contract basis in the State Sports Council in the year 2005 and thereafter it was no looking back.
- Her services in the department as a mentor and hard-work paid her in 2013 and she was regularised as a junior coach.
- Fencer turned Coach Rachna Jamwal has so many rewards and awards in her name and she has also produced players from the state of national and international repute and one of her trainees is also rewarded Sher-e-Kashmir award in the field of sports.
- The list of success story of Rachna Jamwal has many feathers in her cap but few of them included FIE (Federation International D’Escrine), one month Diploma in Foil at Doha, Qatar.
- Ms Rachna Jamwal has attended seminar of fencing for coaches of national federation in Asia and Oceania in Kazakhstan, refresher course at NIS Patiala under the supervision of Mr Istvan Marton, Hungarian Fencing expert in 2007 besides many refresher courses with international and national experts.
- In the year 2011, she was appointed as External Examiner by NIS Patiala for the session.
- Ms Rachna Jamwal has acted as Joint Competition Director in the prestigious 34th National Games held in the year 2011 at Jharkhand and she has acted as referee in many national championships besides having an experience of conducting national coaching camps at various centres of Sports Authority of India (SAI) across the country.
- In November, 2010, she has participated as a professional coach at 16th Asian Games at Guanzezhou, China and in the same year, she also participated in the Senior Common Wealth Championship at Melbourne, Australia, Senior Asian Fencing Championship at Seoul, Korea.
- Earlier in 2009, she accompanied the team in Asian Junior and Cadets Fencing Championship at Singapore, in 2006 she was a member of Indian squad in the Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championship at Kuwait and also in Junior Commonwealth Fencing Championship at Tamil Nadu, India.
- Some of the state players trained by Ms Rachna Jamwal, have also participated in Senior Foil World Cup held at Russia in 2016, Navy Open Fencing Championship held in 2012, World University Games held at Taipei, Taiwan, China and Junior World Fencing Championship held at Italy in 2018.
- Under an able guidance and mentorship of Ms Rachna Jamwal, the state fencers have fetched more than 50 medals from the year 2005 to 2017 at various levels.
