SRINAGAR: On the eve of National Sports Day, J&K State Sports Council today organised National Sports Day at Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex here in Srinagar.
Pertinently, National Sports Day is celebrated in the memory of Major Gian Chand Singh, Hockey player, who won Gold Medals in Olympic Games in the year 1928, 1934 and 1936. He had scored 400 goals in his sports career from 1936 to 1948.
Dr Naseem Choudhary, Secretary, J&K State Sports presided over the function in which large number of players from various disciplines participated.
While concluding the function, Secretary Sports Council encouraged the sportspersons and distributed certificates and medals among participants to boost their morale. Besides various sports council officials were also present on the occasion
