SRINAGAR: J&K Senior Wushu team remained overall 3rd in the 5th Federation Wushu cup at Lovely professional University Jalandhar (Punjab). The team comprised of 12 members from and fetched 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze Medals in the Championship whereas Punjab and Haryana Shared 1st and 2nd place in the Championship.
Karan Sumbria and Riya Chib Secured Gold medals while as Haqeek Ahmed and Abhishek Singh Jamwal Secured Silver medals. Jabeena Akhter, Appu Jamwal, Mukul secured Bronze Medals in the Championships. Pertinent to mention here that Senior Wushu team and Sub- Junior State team remained overall 3rd in the National Wushu championships for the year 2017-18.
Riya Singh Chib and Karan Sumbriya have participated for the first time in the senior national Wushu championship, both were Junior Medalists earlier.
Jabeen Akhter hailing from Tangmarg (Baramulla) also secured Bronze medals due to a foot, and gave walkover in the semi finals. Abhishek Jamwal being a silver medalist in the Moscow Wushu stars, and 7 times national medalist secured silver medal.
“The overall performance of the team was excellent and hope they will continue the winning spree in the forthcoming National Games and National Championships” said Coach of the team, Ashi Jamwal.
Pertinent to mention here that, wushu Sports has lot of potential in the state and every district in the state is doing well in the national and International level. So far 06 Players of the state are in National Wushu coaching camp at SAI Bhopal for the Asian Games, Junior World Wushu championships and World Cup, which is headed by the Kuldeep Handoo (Chief Coach of India)
The Office bearers of Wushu Association of J&K Owais, H K Lohia, Vijay Saraf, Ranjeet Kalra, Deepak Handa, Sunil Sharma and Sohit Sharma have congratulated J&K Wushu team for making the state proud.
