An initiative to develop sports as a culture at grass root level
J&K State Sports Council has started registrations for competitions to be held at block, district and state level under the scheme, ‘Khelo India’. Boarding and lodging expenses will be provided to all the participating players as per norms.
In the initial phase, registrations have started for two districts of Kashmir division, namely Anantnag & Pulwama.
The competitions will be conducted in U17 Boys category, starting from block level. Block level winners will play at district level. Inter-district competitions of all 22 districts of the state will be held at the end in respective sports.
The talented sportspersons from amongst the participants of the competitions for the age groups under Sub-Juniors and Juniors Categories at District, State and National level will be identified through the competitions. On conclusion of the competitions, the Organizing Committee of the Competitions will prepare a discipline-wise list of talent. Such identified talented players will be given preference for induction in various sports promotional schemes of the MYAS/SAI, wherever feasible and if the identified player so desires. The possibility of their induction in State sports academies will also be worked out.
The talented players identified at district level competitions onward will be eligible for grant of scholarship for a period of 12 months.
