Ideas exchanged for implementation of sports at grass-roots
Srinagar, May 06: With the aim to bring sports at grass-root level and develop sports as a culture among the youth of the state, J&K State Sports Council (JKSSC) convened meeting of Sports coordinators of Sports for All on Saturday.
The meeting was chaired by the Secretary and the officials of the Sports Council which was attended by various heads of Sports clubs, Sports for All district coordinators of various sports disciplines.
In the meeting, the coordinators were asked to furnish a detailed project report duly supported with revenue model for the overall promotion of various sports disciplines in the State, so that such proposals could be taken up to facilitate the working of such clubs/academies or stadiums.
Suggestions were also sought from the Sports coordinators for making sports council to reach at grass-root levels. It is pertinent to mention here that 1, 20,000 players, in recent months played at block/district levels in various disciplines for which the registrations were sought earlier.
The heads of the various sports clubs/academies who have registered their clubs with the sports council said that the response of the JK Sports Council is innovative and progressive.
Various sports club heads and sportspersons were of the opinion that stadiums should be built on modern lines, sports equipments should be given to players, teams and clubs.
“Sports players, clubs, teams should be given team kits, sports equipments and the work on stadiums should be fasten, so that we the sportspersons could compete at higher levels,” said Salman, coordinator from Pampore.
“Sports infrastructure should be developed at all the block levels, so that the facilities are provided to the aspiring sportspersons of rural area,” said Sofi Arafat, who hails from Pahalgam.
To bring transparency and accountability in the system, Sports Council is streamlining the player management system, said Secretary Sports Council, Waheed Ur Rehman Para, which tracks the performance of each registered player at various levels throughout his association with the council.
“Registrations of clubs, teams, and players will connect all the relevant stakeholders which will help in identifying the talent at various levels under various matrices and thus bring council’s intervention for nurturing of identified talent.” Secretary Sports Council added.
