Budgam: With an objective to provide professional training to kids, State Football Academy of Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council (JK-SSC) launched SFA Budgam unit on Wednesday at Agha Syed Mehdi Stadium Budgam.
On this Occasion, Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Mohammad Harun Malik inaugurated the SFA unit Budgam and was the Chief Guest while as Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Farooq, Divisional Sports Officer Kashmir, Nuzhat Ara, Member JK-SSC, BA Shah, Executive Officer JK-SSC, Majid Yousuf, District Football Association President and Secretary Khurshid Ahmad and Showkat Hussain respectively and SFA Coach Shaan Showkat & M Lateef besides other dignitaries also graced the ceremony by their presence.
While presiding the gathering, Mohammad Harun Malik hailed the initiatives of JKSSC and SFA for the ground breaking project to launch District Football Units in all 22 districts of the state besides providing platform to the raw talent from far flung areas. He also encouraged children by the success stories of iconic players.
Pertinently, the trials in Budgam were conducted in two phases at Dangerpora Chatergam and Main Budgam respectively so as to provide platform and equal opportunity to every player of the district.
Almost 600 football aspirants attended the trials, out of which 80 probable’s were selected based on merit and talent under 13, 15 and 18 age groups respectively.
The entire process is run and managed by Secretary State Sports Council, Waheed-Ur-Rehman Para and the setup is headed by renowned footballer Mehraj-ud-Din Wadoo besides the cohesive unit comprising of Majid Dar as its Executive Officer, Sajid Yousuf Dar as Technical Director and Satpal Singh as its Head Coach and panel of professional coaches and supporting staff.
